Quran-43:22 Surah Az-zukhruf English Translation,Transliteration and Tafsir(Tafseer).

بَلۡ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا وَجَدۡنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا عَلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٖ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِم مُّهۡتَدُونَ

Transliteration:( Bal qaalooo innaa wajadnaaa aabaaa'anaa 'alaaa ummatinw wa innaa 'alaaa aasaarihim muhtadoon )

22. No, but, in fact, they say: "We found our fathers on this system (religion) and we are guided by their footsteps (35)". (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

(22) Rather, they say, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are in their footsteps [rightly] guided." (Saheen International Translation)

35. From this we understand that to act upon the customs and traditions of ignorant forefathers which are against the teachings of Islamic Laws is the worst form of crime. Like how some of our ignorant Muslims are on the occasion of marriages adamantly putting into practice customs and traditions of their ignorant forefathers.

(43:22) Nay; they simply claim: “We found our forefathers on a way, and we continue to find guidance in their footsteps.”[22]


22. That is, they have no authority of any divine book. The only authority they have is that it has been the practice since the time of their forefathers. Therefore, they have taken the angels as goddesses in imitation of them.

(22) Rather, they say, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are in their footsteps [rightly] guided."
